Assemble your squad!
Have you ever wanted to team up with the hot-headed Wolverine and the - er - even-hotter-headed Ghost Rider? Marvel’s Midnight Suns takes a deep dive into the supernatural as you choose from over a dozen playable Marvel heroes, including your own customisable hero, The Hunter. In this tactical turn-based RPG, you’ll take the fight to the villainous Lilith and the supernatural forces unleashed by Hydra.
With so many heroes to choose from, each with different playstyles, characteristics, and abilities, Fandom is here to give you the rundown on a few of our favourites.
Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes)
Robbie Reyes is certainly not your average Ghost Rider. Though he is a spirit of vengeance like many Ghost Riders before him, Robbie also found himself bound to the spirit of his uncle Eli Morrow, a dangerous satanic killer. Though Robbie refused to let either trait define him, instead rising above the odds to become his own kind of Ghost Rider and an Avenger.
On the field, Ghost Rider is a major damage dealer, using his hellish powers, intimidating chains and Hell Charger car to incinerate enemies – at the cost of some of his own health. Taking down enough foes will fill Ghost Rider’s soul meter which can be used to unleash his most powerful attack, ‘The Penance Stare’. An ability that will surely sound familiar to most Ghost Rider fans out there.
Magik (Illyana Rasputina)
Illyana Rasputina AKA Magik has a lot more to her than her name might suggest. Not only is she a dedicated sorcerer, but also a powerful mutant, skilled swordsman and ruler of the hell-like Limbo dimension. In battle, the ever-headstrong Illyana combines all of these abilities to become a versatile support character.
Using her mutant ability to open portals, Magik can reposition enemies on the field, allowing you to knock foes into dangerous environmental hazards and also set up deadly combo attacks with allies. Alongside her portal powers, Magic can use her imposing soul sword and soul magic. But if that’s not enough, Magik can tap her darker side to unleash her powerful Darkchylde form, temporarily transforming her into an invulnerable demonic tank.
Spider-Man (Peter Parker)
Your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man is no stranger to battling supernatural forces, and with his new techno-magic costume, he’s become all the more formidable.
Being an expert at thinking on his feet, Peter specialises in dealing extra damage when using environmental hazards against enemies. This combined with Peter’s ability to effortlessly manoeuvre across the field and immobilise enemies by webbing them up makes Spider-Man an excellent crowd-control character.
And if all else fails his Infernal Spider special lets the webhead briefly tap into his arachnid instincts to tip the scales in his favour.
Nico Minoru
Born to evil wizards and members of the villainous dark occult, ‘The Pride’, Nico – and other children of Pride members – ran away from their homes after discovering their parent’s true identities. Together, Nico and her newfound friends formed their own heroic group, aptly named The Runaways.
Thanks to her natural affinity for magic, Nico discovered that she could control a powerful, dangerous weapon known as the ‘Staff of One’. With it, Nico is a bit of a wildcard as the staff adds random effects to all magic she casts – such as giving attacks extra damage, varying status effects, buffs and more.
In the right hands, Nico is controlled chaos personified, and with her special ability ‘Crack the skies’ Nico can release the full destructive force of the staff of one.
The Hunter (Customisable hero)
The Hunter is Marvel’s first fully customisable hero and an absolute powerhouse with an array of abilities. As the child of Lilith, The Hunter fights to put a stop to their mother's evil plans for good.
The Hunter has access to three branching skill paths; a heavy-hitting power branch, a light-based support branch and a high-risk, high-reward dark branch. Decisions you make as The Hunter both on and off the battlefield will decide whether the light or dark branch grows.
With light-based powers, The Hunter can cast healing spells, buff allies and summon their hellhound companion, Charlie to fight alongside you.
With dark-based abilities, The Hunter can dish out even more damage, though at a cost, and use more sinister abilities like mind control to switch an enemy's allegiance. All three branches also have their own legendary hero ability, such as the devastating dark-based attack, ‘Annihilation’.
These or just five out of over a dozen diverse Marvel heroes to choose from. So get ready to assemble your dream team as you fight to keep the forces of darkness at bay.
